Bjorkekofte

Women's cardigan with sewn-in sleeves

The inspiration for Bjørkekofta is taken from some of the beautiful decorations we find in Bjørkekyrkja. The artist behind them was Johan Haddal, who was given quite free rein. The church was new in 1920, since the church road by boat to Sæbø was both long and not always safe. The people of Skjåstaddal also had a long way to go before they reached the sea. The joy over the church was great, and can live on in Bjørkekofta.
